The conference and exhibition is the first to be Held in Africa. In a message to the organisers, Ms Preeti Saran, Consulate General of India said – “IMTD 2009 provided a window in the Medical Tourism sector for Canadians looking for affordable, quality and World Class alternatives in healthcare services in India.”
The Indian Consulate General would also be actively supporting IMTD-2011 as an important landmark marketing event where for the first time a large number of Indian Medical Tourism Stakeholders will join hands to enhance awareness of the high quality of medical care available in India at a very affordable cost than in Africa.
African countries account for 14% of India’s $8- billion pharmaceutical exports. Kenya is the third largest African market for Indian drugs. The volume of trade between India and Kenya has increased in last few years. Major exports are pharmaceuticals and medical equipments. There is ample scope for investment in areas like specialized hospitals, clinical laboratories and diagnostic centers. Through this platform business opportunities could be explored between India & Kenya in the health care sector and also to the citizens who are looking for affordable, quality and world class alternatives in the health care services.
With advantages galore, India is the hot destinations among Kenyans looking for cosmetic surgery and many other treatment procedures in India. We get a lot of enquiries from Kenya and cosmetic surgery,  being of the highly demanded treatments  has also picked up well.  More and more women are asking for cosmetic plastic surgery procedures to get the svelte slender look like westerners and the procedures like Liposuction, Tummy tuck and Breast reduction surgeries are the most popular procedures” says Dr Ruchika Malhotra from Indicure.

The sponsors and exhibitors will get the opportunity to meet Kenyans looking for medical, cosmetic and surgical services outside Kenya; Provincial Health Authorities, Insurance companies, travel and tour operators, legal entities, medical information management companies, hospital administrators and medical tourism facilitators with support from the National Hospitals Committee, KENYA. There is a large population of Kenyans  visiting this trade show , therefore IMTD 2011 – Kenya promises to be a unique opportunity for Indian Healthcare providers and medical tourism stakeholders to raise the level of awareness about what India has to offer.
